On Wednesday, June 30, the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) posted a civil service exam schedule that included a Sergeants Exam and a Lieutenants Exam. The schedule stated that the application period for the Sergeants Exam would begin on May 4, 2022. The schedule stated that the application period for the Lieutenants Exam would begin on April 6, 2022.
I suspect that these dates are placeholders for these promotional exams. It doesn’t make sense to schedule a Lieutenants Exam before a Sergeant Exam since the Sergeants Exam list will expire six months before the Lieutenants Exam list.
It appears that they are anticipating giving these promotional exams, but we must wait for the Department to announce the exam. When the exam is announced by the Department, my course will begin.
Many students have requested information about how to be prepared once an exam is announced.
I have created a list of “Essential” procedures you should begin to actively read during your meal hour. By being very familiar with these procedures, you will be better prepared when my course starts, and you will be ahead of your competition.
If you would like the PDF file of these “Essential” procedures, please e-mail. Make sure to indicate what exam you would like to prepare for, Sergeants or Lieutenants. The lists of “Essential” procedures are slightly different for each exam.
During your meal hour, actively read one “Essential” procedure a day!
You should be aware that the Department is currently “cleaning up” the Patrol Guide and Administrative Guide. I do not believe that many of the “Essential” procedures will change significantly.
If you care about a friend or co-worker, be sure to pass my information along to them so they, too, can be prepared for the exam announcement.
I will immediately notify you as soon as any additional exam information is released.
